That Four Letter Word: L-O-V-E

Thought I’d share with you a little story that happened to me this morning…  it’s short and sweet but has a pretty powerful message.

I’m running around town this morning doing some errands when I stop into Dion’s, a locally owned gas station and convenience store known for their fried chicken and being open 24 hours a day, to grab a few things for the boat today.  As I was walking into the store a guy was walking out and practically let the door close in my face.  I don’t think he did it on purpose, or maybe he did, but he seemed in a hurry.  Quickly, before the door could close a gentleman from inside caught the door, opening it and stepping aside to allow me to enter the store.  As I walked by and thanked him for holding the door he replied, while shaking his head “You’re welcome, that guy could have been a gentleman and held the door”.  I just smiled, said thank you again, and went to grab a bottle of water from the back of the store.

About 1 minute later I’m standing in line, waiting to check out.  There were about 3 people ahead of me and one cashier open.  A second register opened and the line of customers waiting to check out quickly divided into two lines.  Although I was at the end of the line, the gentleman in front of me insisted I go before him.  As the cashier was ringing me up the gentleman that let me in front of him started a conversation with me and said “I’m from the 40’s.  Where we respect women, children, and each other.  Seems like we’ve lost it.  If we can get back to that again we can get back to that four letter word L-O-V-E.”  I agreed with him, smiled and thanked him, and went on my way.

The reason that resonated with me is I’m reading a book called A Course In Miracles.  The Course says “Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love.  The real miracle is the love that inspires them.  In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle”.  How true is that, the real miracle is the love that inspires them.  I agree with the gentleman I met in Dion’s this morning, we do need to get back to that four letter word L-O-V-E.

Cheers!  #MiracleMonday
